The "Polar Bears Do Fun Math" Club lets children experience math in all sorts of fun contexts that they usually do not encounter in the structure of the classroom. The activities are mostly hands on using physical objects such as dice, cards, coins, wooden shapes, game boards, scales, paint, counters, computers and more. They may not even realize they are doing math.

The purpose of the club is for your children to have fun while they improve their basic arithmetic skills and learn new skills in geometry, logical thinking, and problem solving. This club is not for remedial math, nor for helping kids with their homework. It is an opportunity for kids to enjoy math their way at their own level of readiness.

Children participating in the club will have a better understanding of what math is and why "it’s cool". The kinds of activities they will engage in will help prepare them for the kinds of mathematics they will see in middle and high school. They will also be better prepared for the WASL mathematics exams in the 4th, 8th and 10th grades.

Children will mostly be working in groups or pairs based on their abilities. They will engage in different activities sometimes based on their interests and sometimes based on skills they need to work on. You are always welcome to talk to me about your child’s needs and progress.
