Kindergarten Connection K - 1 Takes you to the math page of Kindergarten Connection. Number cards, dominos, and unifex cube activities are described that would work well with kindergartners and first graders. The focus is on addition, comparisons, one to one correspondence, and pattern recognition.
Math Central K - 12 A Canadian math resource site that has a searchable database for activities to use in the classroom. You can search by grade groupings, K - 5, 6 - 8, 9 -12. Some activities encourage using manipulatives. The activities are hands on, they do not require a computer.
SCORE Mathematics Lessons, (Schools of California Online Resources for Education K - 12 Lessons aligned with the California Frameworks and the NCTM standards; most require students to be online. Activities vary in interest.
Math Forum: Math Library Internet puzzles K - 12th A searchable library of online math puzzles and problems. Can be used as resource for puzzles of the week, classroom challenges, and occasional homework activity. Some of the online sites are specifically designed to help students improve their math skills.
Math Forum Internet Library K - 12th The best internet math library around. Check it out for your grade level and any other math topic you might be interested in. You can search the database or click on highlighted topics.
Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory K - 12th Has a library of math and science curriculum materials that you can borrow on-line. All you need do is pay the return postage. It also has a sample of a scoring by rubric tutorial, along the lines of the Vermont Exemplars.
Eisenhower National Clearinghouse Classroom K - 12th This page of the ENC site gives easy access to the Digital Dozen monthly recommendations as well as lessons on internet sites. ENC is a huge site with lots of resources. Because of its size, you may feel a little overwhelmed as when you enter a huge library and aren't sure what you're looking for. The page I've selected here is a good jump off point into the whole site.
Math7-Frisbee Middle School 6th - 8th Has a collection of units based on Glencoe's Interactive Mathematics texts. However the activities are stand alone; some cannot be done without a web connection. Several come from the Dr. Math archives from the Math Forum. Good place to look for ideas that have been tested.
Suzanne's Mathematics Lessons 6th - 8th These are web lessons on topics such as crystals, geometric factoring, algebraic factoring, tessellations and fractals.
Show Me Center 6th - 8th This is the site to go to when you are considering changing your curriculum to better meet the NCTM standards, and even our local Washington EALRs. It showcases 5 curricula that exemplify implementing the NCTM standards at the middle school level.
Area 1 4th - 7th A web exercise on area, allows students to explore area on something similar to a geoboard.
SMARD-Secondary Mathematics Assessment and Resource Database 6th - 12th A collection of web interactive activities and activities/problem sets that come up in a MS Word document that you can then print. There are two subdivisions, junior or middle school and senior or high school. Main headings for junior are: Number, Space, Data and Chance, Measurement, and Algebra. The senior data base is divided up into Maths A, B, and C but under the headings are specific topics. These activities have all been tested. This site is maintained at Queensland Association of Mathematics teachers in Australia.
Math Forum: Math Puzzles 3rd - 8th Fun puzzles that are accessible and challenging. The first set are arithmetic, the math line puzzles are geometric, and then there's still another collection. Not web interactive.
Math Forum: Math Problems 5th - 12th Problems from the Russian Math Olympiad, divided into 5th - 11th and 10th - 12th.
Maths Online 7th - college This site is maintained at the University of Vienna in Austria. It is downloadable, though I haven't tried this yet. For teachers one immediate area of interest is the Gallery with topics from plane and analytic geometry, trigonometry, algebra and functions, and calculus. All the activities consist of Java applets and allow student online exploration. Activities include determining coordinates of points, distances in 3D, and identifying polynomial and trigonometric functions and topics from calculus. The 3D exercises allow students to rotate the axes to better see where a point is. This is a nice way for students to gain deeper insight. The Online page makes a variety of math tools based on Mathematics accessible online. Includes a symbolic calculator. There is more to explore besides.
Geometer's Sketchpad Resource Center 5th - college Geometer's Sketchpad is a software product that can be purchased or experienced on-line. It's a dynamic geometry learning tool and this site is a great place to find out its benefits for your classroom. Plus you can try out a version over the internet and get firsthand experience. Kids love playing with the software and producing artwork. It's a fantastic learning tool for any student ready to start constructing, and who can grasp working with definitions.
Connecting Geometry 8th - 12th Connecting Geometry is the website for an electronic 1 year high school course. It is more than that because it has ideas and resources that are valuable for anyone teaching high school geometry. Book mark the address as it is troublesome to navigate between pages.
Native American Geometry 4th -9th For the math portion of this site go to education. It does a wonderful exploration of geometric concepts through art including angle measure, scaling, and symmetry. The site has lessons, tests, and information many students will find interesting.
