Science Museum of Virginia -Teacher Resource Center Good middles school pendulum lab aligned with national science standards. Other pages contain interesting information but no activities. May get updated.
Electronic Desktop Project Virtual earthquake-great lab in which students are led to compute the epicenter and size of quake. Virtual fly-great lab to explore genetics with fruit flies. The labs are web based interactive.
Southeastern Michigan Math-Science Learning Coalition This site has an abundance of well thought out lessons and science activities. They are connected to the National Science Education Standards on which the EALRs are based.
Southeastern Michigan Math-Science Learning Coalition-middle school science Many activities for middle school science seperated by main topic. Several of the activities come from Nexton's Apple. Most do not require an internet hook-up after you've grabbed the lesson.
The Exploratorium Site has resources for all sorts of science ideas. More a source of information than a source for lessons or activities.
CSE (Center for Science Education)-Teacher Developed Earth and Space Science Lessons and Classroom Activities Site has lessons/activities for specific age groupings. No specific ties to the standards and must be web enabled.
CSE Has a page on how to develop a lesson using the web.
Teacher Resource Center Activities, NASA Site has activities students can do to learn about Aeronautics and Rockets. The concepts are made clear by the activity and the physics is then explained; students are not required to do any of their own analysis or conclusion drawing.
NSTA science and math resources Resources listed by Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, etc. Some resources are primarily information based, others include lessons and activities. Of particular interest is the Teacher's resources link that brings up another list specifically for teachers.

National science education standards In between the text on the standards are good sample science activities illustrating the standard for middle school.
Science and Technology for Children, STC Curriculum Materials NSRC supported Has some 6th grade lessons. The site includes sample lessons, the units consist of several lessons that build on one another. Includes assessment materials.
Athena Earth and Space Science for K-12 Needs an internet computer. Activities and loads of information on Space, Weather, Earth, and Oceans. Good for homework assignments possibly. Can also work around the internet aspect in some of the lessons.

ENC-Lessons and Activities database- Science Has a searchable database of many science and mathematics materials. Not a list, but comprehensive. Usually includes pricing information. You can search by subject, grade level, series, and more.
ENC-Lessons and Activities list- Science A huge list of lessons and activities available on the web. The topics are in alphabetical order, some topics correspond to more than one lesson. Some topics correspond to websites with lots of information, but no real activity.
Center of Excellence for Science and Mathematics Education, hosted at U. Tenn. Great set of 34 hands on activities in the physical sciences appropriate for late elementary and middle school. They can be downloaded one by one or all at once for Mac, Windows or using Adobe Acrobat. Good for EALRs, tables and graphs included in some activities.
The Nine Planets An incredible site covering everything you want to know about the nine planets, including geologic, atmospheric, beautiful photographs, historical facts, etc. It is web interactive meaning filled with hot links. Good homework prospects.
SCORE-California Vareity of science activities that are all web based. Students are required to do web research, and in some make a web presentation when they are done. All activities are real life based. Can select grade level. Self-assessment is included in each activity, a presentation is also expected. Has a "ask the scientist" option.
San Diego State U. biology lessons K-12 Lessons includes grade level. They are only mildly interactive in the sense that there is a linked vocabulary list. The lessons would be easy to adopt for classroom use without computer, analysis, tables and charts very much part of the lessons.
Hawai'i Space Grant Consortium Hands on activities-not web interactive. Topics come from Earth and Space Science.
Center for Science, Mathematics and Technology Education, East Carolina U. Has the most extensive list I've seen for science activities you can get off of the web. The list of science activities is annotated so you won't be looking for a needle in a hay stack. Information provided is whether the activities are web interactive, grade level, and more.
Middle School Science Links - from Curriculum Integration Resource Sites - WAMLE Links to sites by grade level. 6th grade is a mix of ecology, chemistry, biology and physics. 7th grade is biology, 8th grade is earth and space science. Some of the sites provide activities for the classroom, some are information sites on topics generally covered in the middle school science curriculum. Good starting point for web exploration by students.
Whelmers - McRel's Accessible Science Series This site has a number of Steve Jacob's Whelmers that have been aligned with the National Science Education Standards. Each Whelmer begins with a description, science process skills, and the standards it focuses on. All the experiments are easy to set up and inexpensive. The Whelmer ends with an assessment piece, though not a specific rubric. All have been classroom tested.
